CRB Status is essentially the status of your loan repayments to credit institutions like SACCOs. The Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) is a platform in Kenya that enables employers and loan or credit issuers to check your payment status, i.e. whether you are a loan defaulter or if you pay your dues.
CRB Clearance is a requirement nowadays whether you are applying for a job in government institutions or Seeking a loan from money lending institutions like banks and SACCOs. Many people would want to know your credit or loan status before doing business with you or giving you a job.
Whenever you borrow funds from any financial institution or credit advancing facilities, it is normally advisable to ensure that you repay your credit on time, no matter how little the amount.

Method 1.METROPOL CREDIT REFERENCE BUREAU LIMITED
You can access the CRB clearance services from Metropol through the Metropol website, the Metropol crystobol android app or by dialling*433#.
You will Pay kes 50 as registration fees via the Paybill number 220388. Enter your national ID number as the account number.
You’ll get a confirmation SMS with your unique PIN details, a Reference Number and also a special Link.
After you register, you can directly dial *433# and log in using the details provided.
For CRB Credit Score– You will pay a fee of Ksh 150 to get your credit score per year. You will be granted marks between 200-900. Any marks below a 400 score mean your rating is very low because you are a defaulter. Rating between 800-900 means you have a high rating.
Credit Report- Pay a fee of Ksh 250 to get detailed information on institutions that have listed you on CRB.
CRB Kenya clearance certificate: after making sure that you have cleared all your outstanding loans. You can now be issued with a clearance certificate at Ksh 2200
Method 2.TRANSUNION CREDIT REFERENCE BUREAU CRB KENYA
- Send your full names to shortcode 21272
- Enter your ID number
- Choose CC (meaning Credit Status)
- Receive your CRB status via SMS.

Method 3. CREDIT INFO CRB KENYA
You can also register with credit info to obtain your credit information yearly. Simply visit credit info.co.ke to register for free. You’ll then receive your credit information at your email address.
